Please join the National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare (NCSACW) to learn about the updated Child Welfare Training Toolkit. The Toolkit is a training package developed to educate child welfare workers about substance use and cooccurring issues among families involved in the child welfare system. The training is intended to provide foundational knowledge to help child welfare workers:

• Understand substance use disorders and other co-occurring issues;
• Identify when substance use is a factor in a child welfare case;
• Learn strategies for engaging parents and families in services;
• Understand potential effects for the parent, children, and caregivers; and,
• Learn the importance of collaboration within a system of care.

The Toolkit contains a range of training materials that were developed to be easily adapted to meet the needs of child welfare trainers as a component of the overall training system, in-person workshops, or training sessions. This webinar will provide an overview of the topics in the toolkit and strategies for adapting content for use in your organization.
