Lauren Westerberg of CASA Becomes Certified Praesidium Guardian™

Lubbock, Texas – CASA of the South Plains has zero tolerance for abuse of any type against children within the community and those supported by our organization. It is our duty as a CASA program to promote the safety and well-being of all children, not just those we directly serve.

In our efforts to provide a safe environment to the children served by CASA, we are proud to announce that Lauren Westerberg, Chief Program Officer, has become a Certified Praesidium Guardian™ #CPGuardian! Lauren has demonstrated her commitment by developing her abuse prevention skills to become an abuse prevention expert. Read about it here: https://website.praesidiuminc.com/praesidiumguardian/.

“Praesidium is pleased to congratulate Lauren Westerberg on becoming a Certified Praesidium Guardian! In her role as Chief Program Officer for CASA of the South Plains, Inc., Lauren championed improvements in her program’s screening and selection practices for volunteer advocates,” said Laura Hardin Aceves, Praesidium Coach.

Lauren identified several opportunities to strengthen abuse risk management practices within CASA’s screening practices, including revising the volunteer application to include a zero tolerance for abuse statement, revising volunteer interview questions, clarifying the number and type of references required for each volunteer applicant, and implementing pre-training and post-training screening meetings for leadership members, recruitment staff, and training staff to evaluate and discuss strengths and feedback on each potential volunteer advocate before moving towards case assignment. Additionally, Lauren coordinated an abuse prevention training for her program team to receive foundational information on abuse risk management best practices within CASA programs. We are proud of Lauren’s leadership and contributions to enhancing youth protection measures, and we look forward to her continued growth as a Certified Praesidium Guardian. Congratulations, Lauren!
