Heroes stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves. They make sure the most vulnerable among us are protected and feel safe. It doesn’t require a mask, super strength, or mutant powers to be a hero. It just take the will, dedication, and commitment to making a difference in our community. CASA Volunteers are heroes to hundreds of children in foster care. A CASA, or a Court Appointed Special Advocate, helps a child in foster care navigate the child welfare system while working to ensure their needs are met and help find a safe, permanent home. The Texas Tech Kappa Alpha Thetas are excited to announce the return of the CASA 5K Superhero Run/Walk in support of CASA of the South Plains. The CASA 5K Superhero Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, May 4th from 8:30AM – 11:00AM at the Texas Tech Student Recreational Center Sports Fields at 3219 Main Street. Check-in begins at 8:00AM. Registration fees are $15 for children (ages 3-12, children 2 and under free), $20 for college students, and $25 for adults. The registration fee includes an event t-shirt. Runners and walkers of all ages are encouraged to come dressed as your favorite superhero. Activities include a photo booth, face painting, field games, and a costume contest.
