12th Annual Casas for CASA fundraiser a success!

The 12th Annual Casas for CASA raffle fundraiser, hosted by CASA of the South Plains, was a tremendous success! This year Casas for CASA joined the West Texas Home Builders Association (WTHBA) at the Parade of Homes outside of Foxridge. Raffle tickets were sold for the opportunity to win a custom built playhouse or doghouse, which were generously donated by members of the WTHBA and Lubbock Fire Rescue. Because of the overwhelming support from members of the South Plains community, CASA of the South Plains raised $24,530 in ticket sales that will be used to help recruit, train, and support volunteer Advocates who are desperately needed to speak up for the well-being of abused and neglected foster children. A CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocate, is a volunteer who helps a foster child navigate the child welfare system and ensure their needs are being met while working to help find safe, permanent homes. CASA volunteers make a tremendous impact in the lives of the foster children they serve and more are needed to help make sure foster children do not have to navigate the waters of the child welfare system alone.

Our 2017 Casas for CASA winners are:

At this year’s event the public was able to vote for their favorite home in the following categories: Best Design, Most Creative, and Kids Pick. The winner for Best Design is Ventura Homes. The winner for Most Creative is Clearview Custom Homes. The winner for Kid’s Pick is Betenbough Homes.

“We are thrilled and humbled by the enormous amount of support that we received during Casas for CASA. We are deeply grateful to the WTHBA and its members for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of the Parade of Home show. Our volunteer Advocates play a vital role in helping to determine what is in the best interest of a foster child during their time in the foster care system. The funds raised from Casas for CASA will help to provide additional advocacy services to abused and neglected foster children, who through no fault of their own, are forced to face a whirlwind of change and a very uncertain future,” said Jaclyn Howard, Executive Director for CASA of the South Plains.
