X-WR-CALDESC:In this webinar we will explore the connection between the pot
ential to reduce child welfare system involvement through the implementati
on of poverty-reduction strategies based on existing social policy package
 s (e.g. Earned Income Tax Credit\, SNAP\, federal minimum wage). In 2019 t
he National Academy of Sciences (NAS) released a “roadmap” to reduce child
poverty by as much as half through the implementation of a series of soci
al policy packages.\n\nSubsequent to this release\, a team of researchers
undertook a study to simulate the reductions in Child Protective Services
(CPS) involvement and foster care placements that are likely to result fro
m implementation of three of the NAS policy packages when adjusting for ho
usehold income. It is the methodology and results of this recent study we
 will be discussing.
