X-WR-CALDESC:Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains continues their
  ongoing efforts to provide child abuse prevention education with the new 
 Keeping Kids Safe Initiative.  April is Child Abuse Awareness Month.  Thro
 ughout the month\, the center will host a series of community education pr
 ograms. These programs will provide area residents with understanding abou
 t how they can help children who might be victims of abuse and trauma.\n\n
 The sessions will be each Thursday\, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Children’s 
 Advocacy Center\, 720 Texas Avenue.  Seating is limited so reservations ar
 e required. The Keeping Kids Safe series is provided free of charge. Those
  interested can choose any single session or sign up for multiple sessions

 kids.org.\n\nSession 1 - The Role of the CAC\, will be April 8.  Community
  Education Coordinator John Wuerflein will educate the attendees on the ro
 le of the Children’s Advocacy Center in child abuse investigations. The cl
 ass will learn about reporting\, investigations\, trauma focused therapy a
 nd prevention education.  A tour of the Children’s Advocacy Center\, discu
 ssion of what the center is and how the center serves child victims will b
 e included. \n\nSession 2 - Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse\, will b
 e April 15. This one-hour program teaches adults how to recognize the sign
 s and red flags of child abuse and how to properly report within the syste
 m.  Attendees learn about behavioral signs of possible abuse and how to re
 spond to a child that has disclosed abuse.  This program meets standards f
 or mandated recognizing and reporting trainings for most employer sectors.
   \n\nSession 3 - Keeping Children Safe in an Unsafe World\, will be April
  22. Parents will learn how to keep their children safe.  It includes talk
 ing to their child about abuse\,  internet safety\, what to say or do when
  a child discloses abuse\, red flags for identifying child molesters\, and
  21 child-friendly ways to teach their child about abuse or victimization.
 \n\nSession 4 - Grooming\, is April 29. Participants will realize the dept
 hs to which a pedophile will go to choose a child\, groom a child\, and th
